How We're Proving That 'America Isn't a Hellhole'

There are a lot of problems in the world. More than we can count. It's overwhelming to think about fixing all the problems. So overwhelming that someone recently resorted to calling America a "hellhole." But here's the deal: it's not so overwhelming if you just tackle one problem at a time. Which is exactly what Causely does.

How Do We Do It?

By connecting businesses with charities through the power of Facebook check-ins. Every time someone checks in at one of our businesses, we make a donation to a great cause. Business owners join us because they care about helping others. If America was truly a 'hell hole,' then no one would care and no one would engage. With more than 3,200 businesses on board and over $1 million donated, we're proving otherwise.

Every month, our community gathers together to help solve problems all over the world. We fight hunger. We fight poverty. We fight illiteracy. We fight animal neglect. We fight malnourishment. We fight limited access to health care. We fight lack of clean water.

Last month, our businesses donated over 19 million gallons of clean water to people in need through H2OpenDoors and 157,995 weeks of clean water through The Northwest Haiti Christian MissionThis past week (August 24th-31st), our community of caring businesses worked together to support the families affected by the Louisiana flooding.

We might not be solving all the problems. But our community is making a massive impact on those problems. Every. Single. Day. The charities we support are dedicated to addressing immediate needs, as well as developing long-term solutions for bigger problems. We're after healing, not band aids. And the more businesses, gyms, churches, and restaurants that join our efforts, the more impact we'll have.

Here's what the Causely community has accomplished so far in 2016:
