Causely + buildOn: Bringing Education to All

Share:

From April – June 2023, we are proud to partner with buildOn to provide hours of quality education to improve adult literacy in Senegal through their Adult Literacy Program.

buildOn is creating a more just and equitable world by uniting people through service and education. They partner with people in some of the world’s economically poorest countries to build schools, enroll previously out-of-school children, and support adult learners through their Adult Literacy Program. To date, they have built more than 2,253 schools and break ground on a new school every 36 hours.

This year, we will be supporting buildOn through their Adult Literacy Program. Their Adult Literacy Classes teach women and men literacy and numeracy through the lens of health, enterprise, and relevant life skills. This program gives parents and grandparents the education they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.

buildOn currently conducts the three-year program in developing countries with some of the world’s lowest female literacy rates, including Haiti, Malawi, Mali, Nepal, and Senegal. This program not only brings education, but addresses the impact of poverty, disease, and inequality.

In each class, students spend the first six to twelve months learning to read, write, and do basic math. They then put these skills to use through self-selected income-generating activities—including bee keeping, animal husbandry, and textile production. buildOn works with villagers to inventory their resources and create a strategic plan for continued progress.

We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with buildOn to push forward their mission. Join us from April – June to give the gift of education. Every check-in or review will provide an hour of quality education to improve adult literacy in Senegal.
